Well that was a blast!
We were hopeful for a few family members popping along any maybe the odd music shopper at HMV taking an interest in our showcase gig in the Local Artist spot. We certainly weren't such a strong turnout of friends and supporters. A huge thankyou to those of you who took time out from your day to come along. We really genuinely did appreciate the support.
We have to admit, the numbers crowding the upstairs at HMV did add a little to the sweaty palms and racing pulses. As more and more people came in we both exchanged a few "oh my God" glances as we realised this wasn't going to be a quiet little run through of our songs in the corner of an empty shop!
Its difficult to get a vibe going in brought daylight, on a Saturday afternoon in a shop, (and sober), but hats off to our brilliant audience you managed it! It suddenly went from a sort of shakedown performance to a full gig. We couldn't help but notice the youngsters absolutely rocking out at the front. There was some fabulously energetic dancing going on there! With a following as enthusiastic as that we could be massive... in about 15 years!
The staff looking after us at HMV were absolutely first class. From the minute we arrived to sound check, (special mention to Brian Ratcliffe for helping with that), right through to adding us to the "wall of fame" they couldn't have been more welcoming. The Local Artist spot is a great initiative that helps keep promote music and give local artists a bit of exposure. Full marks to HMV.
A final thanks to those of who grabbed yourself a copy of our album for an "absolute gift" price of just £3.99! Signing our own album in HMV with the CD playing over the in-shop speakers was a surreal moment we will never forget! We sold way more than we expected with over half of the stock going, but there are still a few copies left for anyone wanting to pop down during the week and get one.
Our emergency stand in 40 watt amp coped well in the absence of our full acoustic amp kit, (still at the menders), but we are hoping to have to invest in a bigger PA system before too long!
We hope you all enjoyed it as much as we did and we look forward to seeing you at our next gig
