Absolute Gift

Absolute Gift - rock and Pop Group from Wigan in the North West of England

About Us

Absolute Gift are singer songwriter Robin Foxon and multi instrumentalist Graham Millington with a
"British Invasion" power pop style

Vocalist Robin has provided the song writing skills behind the 9 tracks on the debut album "Sunburn". Robin is a songwriter in the fine British tradition of the likes of the Kinks, The Searchers, the Jam, the Who and even a hint of Elvis Costello. He matches his addictively catchy melodies and lyrics with some fine rhythm guitar playing

Graham provides the Lead and rhythm guitar, bass and drums as well as fulfilling the roles of Arranger, Producer and Sound Engineer.

The live band features the worlds happiest bassist Nathan Tomassi and our coolest member Alannah on drums

History

Absolute Gift formed in early 2022 over a broken looper pedal and an impromptu jam session in Grahams home studio. Impressed with Robins catchy melodies and song writing skills, Graham set about recording a few numbers with no particular end game in mind.

The project quickly expanded as the duo not only captured some of Robins original song ideas but began writing and arranging new material. The fist 9 songs that make up the Sunburn album were the product of intensive 6 hour writing and recording sessions as the ideas flowed.
Robin is the main lyricist and vocalist with both band members contributing musical ideas and arrangements. Bass duties fall to the "worlds happiest Bassist" Nathan Tomassi with our youngest coolest member Alannah smashing it on drums

What kind of music do you play?

Always a tricky question. Robin describes the band as "power pop" in the tradition of the British invasion of the late 60's and early 70's. the phrase "power pop" was fist coined by Pete Townsend of the Who and came to encompass the likes of the Beatles, the Byrds, the Searchers and the Kinks as well as he later generation of artists they influenced such as Elvis Costello, The Jam and even Oasis.
